Living Space
The Moonstone Retreat is appointed with all-natural materials, selected to enhance your sensory experience. Reclaimed teak floors are gentle on your feet after a long day on the trail. Sink into a buttery leather couch, curl up on sheep fleece rugs in front of the wood-burning stove. Feel the cool slate patio under your feet as the evening breeze winds up the river canyon. The living spaces are designed to create a sense of calm, and ease the mind, body, and soul while communing with one of the most spectacular places on earth.
The Hearth
The outdoor dining area holds a hearth space for outdoor cooking. Born from a love of al fresco cooking and dining, this space is designed to gather friends and celebrate with ease in the Mediterranean climate of the Sierra. The fully-equipped outdoor kitchen is ready to party with a suite of cast iron cookware and wood-fired pizza equipage. The dining patio has splendid views of the canyon and a farmhouse table that seats 10. A stone pizza oven and parrilla make for a festive and dynamic cooking and dining experience. Let a Fire Gaucho lead you in an evening of creating pizza or asado barbeque. The Fire Gaucho will prepare all the necessary ingredients, stoke the fires, and take you on an interactive dining experience. With dough prepared and rolled, guests get to build their own pizzas, and the Fire Gaucho expertly cooks them in the wood-fired pizza oven. Asado evenings will be leisurely with the Fire Gaucho preparing and cooking all the meats and side dishes.
Bathrooms
Getting dirty is the sign of a good time in Yosemite. With dust on the legs come stories of great days in the mountains. When it is time to clean up you will appreciate natural stone vanities and tubs/showers, heated floors, and glass shower enclosures. The Moonstone’s spa-like bathroom treatments allow you to nurture your body in a clean, crisp, and elevating environment. It is here you will notice the Moonstone symbol, embroidered onto every towel to remind you of just what a special place you are occupying.
Kitchen
Nourishing food is at the heart of high-quality gatherings. The chef’s kitchen is appointed with state-of-the-art appliances including a Wolf oven and cook-top and sub-zero refrigerator. Smooth soapstone countertops and a social open flow design will make meal preparation a sensual delight. The kitchen is designed for easeful cooking with friends gathering around the island enjoying drinks and preparing a meal together. Personal chefs are available to hire.
Bedrooms
The Moonstone bedrooms each face in a different cardinal direction, allowing guests ultimate privacy. There are three primary bedrooms with en suite marble bathrooms and king beds. The bedrooms each have sliding doors that open to private decks with outstanding views. Appointed with luxe linens and duvets, Cuddledown pillows, Hangai Mountain Textile yak down throws, you will find nurturing sleep spaces after a full day in the mountains. The bohemian room is downstairs with three twin beds that can be made into a king bed and one twin upon request, and makes for a lively zone for the children, while the parents enjoy adult time upstairs.
Yoga Studio
Retreat to a place of serenity and balance at The Moonstone Retreat. The spacious yoga studio can hold up to 30 yogis. With heated reclaimed teak floors, the aesthetics of the yoga studio cannot be overstated. With south facing windows and sweeping views of the river’s pools and surrounding peaks, the studio is also a thoughtful space for gathering. The studio has a bathroom and tearoom utility as well as an outdoor shower. The living roof adds a vitality to this one-of-a-kind structure.
Copper Ofuro
Unwind in the deep, hot, Japanese soaking tub. With no chemicals, the ofuro can be freshly filled at a moment’s notice for a party of two to enjoy the perfect soak. Feel the tension leave your body in soothing hot water, adjusted to the exact temperature you desire.
